Welcome to my web site: www.hyperbolicsliderules.com.
Here you will find an Article and a Slide Rule List that are devoted entirely
to slide rules with hyperbolic scales. For many years I have been intrigued by
these wonderful instruments that can deliver such amazing results. You can read
the Article and review the List by clicking on the items on the left. I hope you enjoy what you see!
The Article is a revised and expanded version of the one that I had
originally written for The Journal of the Oughtred Society (JOS, Vol.14, No.1,
2005). And the Slide Rule List, showing details of the various hyperbolic slide rules
that I know about, first appeared on the Oughtred Society’s web site as a Vol. 14, JOS PLUS file.
The Slide Rule List is
a continuous working draft of what I hope in time will become a fairly thorough
and accurate record of these hyperbolic slide rules. As new information is received
the list will be revised to include it. The final goal is to show every known
slide rule with hyperbolic scales for each manufacturer. To complete it, I am
asking for help from the International Slide Rule Group (ISRG) members, the
Oughtred Society (OS) members, and other slide rule lovers to fill in the
missing pieces. Please look at both the Article and the Slide Rule List and let
me know what corrections and changes should be made. Also, let me know the details
for any slide rule that has been omitted from the list and should be added. I
will appreciate your feed back, and be most happy to acknowledge the
contributions that anyone makes to improve the listing. If you furnish additional details or corrections
would you please give the source of your information? Also, if you can send
scanned pictures and/or a copy of the manual these would be most helpful.
